Mastering My Best Solos from Ventura: A Note-by-Note Breakdown to Boost Your Soloing Skills
Solos are, without a doubt, one of the biggest challenges for a bass player. At first, they might feel more like an obstacle than an opportunity to truly enjoy and express yourself through the instrument. However, with the right approach and a few key techniques, you can overcome that initial hesitation and develop confidence in your soloing skills.
As bassists, we’re often used to playing a supporting role, so stepping into the spotlight for a solo can feel like a major challenge—it takes us completely out of our comfort zone. But this is also where we get to shine, take center stage, and showcase our full creative and technical potential.
In this section of my course, I’ll share practical insights on both interpreting and composing solos, helping you break through barriers and express yourself freely on the bass. We’ll also take a deep dive into some of the most iconic solos from my album Ventura, along with the solo for Cory Wong’s track Lunchtime.

Al principio, pueden parecer más un obstáculo que como una oportunidad para disfrutar y expresarse a través del instrumento. Sin embargo, con el enfoque adecuado y algunas técnicas clave, puedes superar esa duda inicial y desarrollar confianza en tus habilidades para hacer solos.
Como bajistas, a menudo estamos acostumbrados a desempeñar un papel de apoyo, por lo que salir al escenario para un solo puede sentirse como un gran desafío, nos saca completamente de nuestra zona de confort. Pero aquí es donde también podemos brillar, tomar el centro del escenario y mostrar todo nuestro potencial creativo y técnico.
En esta sección de mi curso, compartiré ideas prácticas tanto para interpretar como para componer solos, ayudándote a romper barreras y expresarte libremente en el bajo.
